A Low Carbon Life | Post 2 2018 | Electric Vehicles
On a recent holiday to far East Gippsland, which is a spectacular place when the weather is mild, sunny and calm, I noticed a Tesla recharging point for electric vehicles. Tesla make very nice, but expensive, electric cars. What amazed me about this charge station is that it’s located at Gypsy Point, with an estimated population of 46 people. I assume it was installed for guests staying at one of the two establishments in Gypsy Point but, still, I was surprised.
The point of this post is to share my belief, based on a lot of reading and listening and judging of information for reliability, that electric cars, probably driver-less electric cars, are coming soon and, within the next decade, our experience of driving will be transformed. I was hoping that when we have to replace our tiny, ageing car with its internal combustion engine, that we might buy a Tesla 3 (due for release in Australia in 2019) but the price is likely to be more than I thought it would be, so it won’t be for us. On the bright side, there are other electric vehicles available in Australia which is interesting, because when I looked this time last year, I couldn’t find any new electric vehicles available for purchase.
To conclude, change is coming quickly if what I read and hear is anything to go on. Even the latest British budget committed funds to support electric vehicles. If I have to replace the car, then I intend buy an electric vehicle.
I do as I do because ‘I Care’ so, until next time, Jane
