A Low Carbon Life | Post 9 2019 | A Good Measurement Site
To date, the focus of this website and my interest in measurement, has been about knowing how much we need to change individually and as households to do our small part to avert catastrophic global warming. My success in answering this question has been limited and I haven’t reviewed the measurement tools I found for at least five years.
Today I came across a site that measures Australia’s emissions performance, ahead of published government measures. If the authors update the site every quarter, then I’ll read it with interest.
The commentary around the data is worth reading but just the graphics are powerful and frightening.
The site is run by a business called ndver Environmental but it is their page about ‘Tracking 2 Degrees’ that is really interesting (which I’ve built into the above link).
From an individual and household perspective, the graphics remind me that if LOTS of us reduced our electricity consumption and bought renewable power; if we were mostly vegetarian; if we reduced our demand for consumer goods (keep buying services); if we reduced our air travel; if we moved to electric vehicles for transport; and, if we bought local products as often as possible, then we could make a difference.
